![]() ![]() You can see I have 4 sets of lights currently hooked up and 4 left to use. Get your lights all wired up and you are good to go. I wanted to control the color and brightness all the time so I trick it into thinking the lights are always on. ![]() If you hook the lights on sensor to know when your lights are on the backlight on the switch panel stays full bright white except when you have the lights on. Don’t forget to place the fuse you removed from the fuse box into the fuse tap or you will get the “Service 4wd” warning and you will not be able to shift into AWD or 4WD (ask me how I know)Īnother thing I did different from the direction was hook the “Lights on sensor wire” (white wire) to the same location as the ignition on wire. This makes it simple to add new accessories in the future.įor ignition power (light blue wire) I used a fuse tap and tapped into the FRT AXLE ACT F17, it has power with the ignition and has room for the fuse tap. I hooked wires for switch 1 to block 1, 2 to 2, and so on. I mounted the distribution block to the top of the fuse box using Velcro: I’ll just show a couple of things I did that are not in the directions. Here is where you can pass the wire through the firewall, just make a small cut in the rubber and shove the wire/connector through.įollowing the directions that came with the Switch Pros is pretty straight forward, Big red wire to power, black to ground. ![]() Now it’s mounted and on to wiring everything up: Plug the heated seat switches back in and connect the switch panel connector: Mount the switch panel to the plastic panel:Īt this point you need to have the cable routed through the fire wall into the cabin and to where you mounting location is going to be. The screws were not even close to being long enough to go through that pocket so I ended up making a couple of small C brackets from some scrap.ĭrilled holes in the plastic for the bracket bolts and the switch panel cable/connector. There may be easier ways to mount it but this is what I came up with and I tend to use stuff I have laying around. That little panel pops right off, just use a plastic interior tool or something that will not scratch things up and unplug the heated seat connectors. It fit great there and is in the perfect spot to see and reach: Several installs that I have seen placed in the cubby in front of the shifter, which was not going to work for me so I decided to use the small spot between the heated seat buttons. I wanted it to be clearly visible and easy to access. Next, you need to figure out where you want to locate the switch panel. Here it is mounted to the firewall with the battery reinstalled. For some reason I did not take pics until after I installed the battery back in. I used metal piercing screws to attach it to the firewall, its rock solid. You could just use washers or if you have plastic spacers laying around like I did just cut them down to size. You will need to make some spacers to get the module spaced away from the firewall enough to clear the module to mounting plate screws. Now mount the control module to the mounting plate with the hardware provided. You will need to remove the battery, notice the blue line: If you mount it here first thing you need to do is mark the farthest point you want the connectors to be at closest to the battery, you need to be able to plug and unplug these harnesses after everything is together and the battery still needs to fit. You need to find a good place to mount the control module, the best place I could find was on the firewall right next to the battery. I’ll start with an under-hood installed pic for reference: I also picked up a distribution block from Amazon: (there is a theme here huh, Amazon makes it way too easy to spend money!) As I said in my other write-up, I tend to blitz through installs forgetting to take pic’s along the way so forgive me if I missed a few shots.Īny mod you do to your truck is at your own risk, this is just an attempt to help others avoid some of the pain of figuring things out on the fly like I did.įirst, as always, purchase the Switch-Pro: I was tired of running wires into the cab every time I wanted to control a new light or accessory so I decided to install a Switch Pros 9100 controller. ![]()
